As with everything we do, we are reviving the traditional, and preserving precious artisan skills, in the new store. Front windows, with café-dining tables, draw you towards the ground floor, where something that will stir long-ago fond memories awaits you. Do you remember the beautiful massive white marble counters from traditional stalls in covered markets? In the new store, beautiful pristine white marble counters, built to last a lifetime, greet you: in these energy-conscious days, they have the added value of keeping things cool naturally. In front of your eyes, our master bakers will be baking flat bread, using a bread oven clad in our own dry-stone walling. This is the ambience – and the aroma – of the real thing. Tables will offer Daylesford’s own glorious organic vegetables, fruit, and herbs in season. These will be available month by month, as each reaches its prime.
Continuing the eco-friendly concept, natural light flows in from the generous windows and the atrium to the first floor, where there is a food gallery, with rustic wooden fencing – and you will find everything in the Daylesford larder, with our own bespoke, artisan items for the home.
The store will prepare fresh, simple light lunches and snacks, with variety of ready-to-dine meals; downstairs, you will find a superb range of wines, of which more than a third are organic and or biodynamic.
Daylesford’s recognised stars will be present. Organic meat from our own Staffordshire farm, our award-winning matured handmade cheddar, and our yoghurts – will be on the cheese and dairy counter; our organic pastry chef will be contributing an eclectic range of patisserie.
We hope that visitors will note that Daylesford’s focus on country crafts and skills has been sustained in the design itself –we are most proud of the handmade woven willow handrail, which curls and spirals elegantly up the staircase from the ground floor upwards. It has been woven as a labour of love by an individual craftswoman who has also produced beautiful wicker-work trays, which slot into the most inspired natural shelving. Always at Daylesford, little details matter…
Daylesford Organic in Pimlico will be open from Tuesday 27th February.
Opening hours, Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm and on Sundays from 11am to 5pm.
