The Daylesford Foundation has supported the Soil Association to launch the Daylesford Organic Farm School, with a range of special courses at Daylesford. We can now offer hands-on courses in growing your own food, rearing animals and poultry, country cooking and rural crafts. Courses will be led by organic farmers and artisan craft people with personal experience – from an introduction to more professional expertise in vegetable growing, poultry-keeping, bee-keeping, willow weaving or hedge laying – and many other skills.
Carole Bamford conceived the Daylesford Organic Summer Solstice Garden for the RHS 2008 Chelsea Flower Show, as a living illustration in miniature of what happens at Daylesford; as such, it reflects both her belief in organic, sustainable farming, preservation of artisan crafts and her natural design aesthetic. We were delighted when the Garden won the silver-gilt medal at the Show last year.
We are very pleased to announce that the garden has now returned in its entirety to Daylesford in the Cotswolds, where it is open to everyone. The aptly named Kitchen Garden at Daylesford, set in the Market Garden offers something very unique; it is where we will pass on our knowledge of growing and artisan skills, with the aim to preserve the quality of our soil for generations to come.
It is home to the Soil Association Organic Farm School courses including hen keeping, gardening classes and bee keeping. It will also offer Daylesford master classes; from artisan skills such as willow weaving to bread making. It will also be used as a location for farm tours, wildlife and foraging walks as well as Supper Clubs. The Garden can be booked for private suppers, picnics, courses and demonstrations for local schools, gardening clubs and agricultural universities as well as corporate meetings and team building events.
